Handset market sluggish, Christmas fears rise
The world’s top cellphone makers are braced for declining sales after growth slowed sharply in the third quarter, when only Samsung Electronics gained significant market share, through price cuts.
Although the overall market has not yet begun to contract, global growth shrank to around 3 percent in the latest three months from well above 10 percent in recent quarters as handset makers felt the pinch from slowing economies and the credit crisis.
