Forecast lowered for tech spending in 2009
The technology sector hasn't factored prominently in the bailout, takeover and bankruptcy headlines of the last few months, but it's far from immune to the economic upheaval, according to a sharply revised industry forecast released Wednesday.
Worldwide spending on technology will slow in 2009 to 2.6 percent growth, well below a precrisis forecast of 5.9 percent, IDC of Framingham, Mass., predicted. Spending in the United States will grow by 0.9 percent, IDC said, revising its earlier estimate of 4.2 percent growth.
