State of the CIO
CIO, in conjunction with its CIO Executive Council, questioned almost 550 IT executives regarding their roles, responsibilities, organizations and key job activities. The respondents were asked about three job categories and their attributes: Functional Head, Transformational Leader, and Business Strategist. Among the findings were that transformation and alignment are a primary focus and the CIOs spend on average 11% of their time with vendors.
CIO Virtualization Survey
CIO: Virtualization has been a hot topic in the past few years. CIO conducted research last fall to see how virtualization is being deployed, satisfaction with it, and what may impede its progress.
Outsourcing & Innovation Survey
CIO: To learn more about outsourcing activities and satisfaction levels, CIO surveyed IT executives in 2007. By far, cost savings was the primary motivation.

CIO: It comes as no surprise that CIOs are most influential in major IT purchases. But there is a buying committee of IT and business professionals that plays an important part. A CIO survey also identified the most effective ways to communicate with your prospects. While in-person meetings were at the top of the list, articles in print and online were not far behind.
