Kumaran Ramanathan

Kumaran Ramanathan was appointed President of IDG Communications in October 2017. As a 1st party relationship company, IDG Communications activates and engages the most influential technology buyers with premium brands including CIO, CSO, Computerworld, Network World, InfoWorld, PCWorld and Macworld.

In his previous role at IDG, Kumaran was CEO, IDG Global Services (incorporating IDG Global Solutions, IDG Strategic Marketing Services, IDG Research, U.S. Corporate Sales and International Partner Services). In that capacity, he was responsible for working with IDG’s largest customers, representing the worldwide portfolio across digital media, events, demand generation and marketing services, and focused on delivering a world-class marketing and customer experience.

Before re-joining IDG in October 2010, Kumaran held senior leadership positions at CMP Media, VNU Business Media and Incisive Media. He is a charismatic, highly experienced and exceptional leader, comfortable at both an operational and strategic level with a proven track record of success.

Kumaran is a past recipient of the company’s highest award ― The McGovern Award for Management Excellence ― and has won many highly prized industry awards, including the PPA Brand of the Year, AOP Integrated Media Campaign, Business Superbrand in consecutive years and has been Highly Commended as PPA Publisher of the Year three times.

Kumaran attended Malvern College in the U.K., holds a B.A. in History from The University of Reading and captained the Bromley Cricket Club.

Joakim Allwin is Managing Director of IDG Sweden and has 20 years experience in the ICT Media sector. Since joining IDG in 2000, he has held a series of senior positions such as Marketing Manager, Sales Manager and Publishing Director at IDG Sweden. IDG Sweden’s mission is to drive the better use of tech, something which Joakim is passionate about: “It’s such an exciting time to be working in the tech sector, not only do we see technological advances solving major societal issues, but also to see new business models and therefore new opportunities arising. At IDG we’re a part of that, which is definitely worth getting up for in the morning.” Joakim studied Business Administration and Marketing at IHM Business School in Stockholm and since joining IDG has attended a number of Corporate Management and Business Development programs. When not at work, you will most likely find him on a boat in the archipelago with his two daughters.

Gene Bishop started his career at Dow Jones, The Wall Street Journal and after 20+ years joined ALM Media. He started as a Director of Application Support and over time added other technology responsibilities. He built and executed an Enterprise roadmap, consolidating applications and platforms, while also engaging in partnerships to bring world-class solutions. As Head of Technology, reporting to the CEO, he produced investment strategies for software development and support for a global company.

Gene joined IDG Communications in May of 2019 and is bringing together a global technology team (Information Technology Solutions- ITS) and is setting the course for all of the major initiatives that will align the mission of ITS for IDGC and IDG as a whole.

Gene has been married to his wife Eileen for 29 years and has 2 high-schoolers, Leo and Cathy.

As a respected name in both the media and security industries, Bob works with leaders to identify, interpret and address the challenges of today’s complex security and risk management environments. Prior to CSO, Bob served in management roles with Key3Media, Ziff-Davis, SOFTBANK, and Cahners Publishing.

Mark Burton is the Senior Vice President of IDG’s Worldwide Data & Software Group. In his role, Mark focuses on product development, pricing, data acquisition and delivery of IDG’s data services solutions including demand gen, sales development services, intent data solutions and IDG’s ABM platform – Triblio.

With over 23 years of media experience across technology & financial services markets, Mark is a proven and well-respected leader. A transformative thinker with extensive experience across data, events and marketing services across EMEA, US and APAC. Since joining IDG in July 2018, Mark has taken our data services group forward to record growth and continues to collaborate with leaders across the company to define and execute our data services strategy.

Prior to joining IDG, Mark held Director positions at Future PLC, Incisive Media and VNU Business Publications. Mark has a BA in History from Portsmouth University and lives outside of London with his wife and 3 children.

Head, Global Talent Engagement

Laurie Butson has been with IDG for over 21 years, and has held a variety of roles along the way, including Training Coordinator, Training Specialist, and Director of Training and Development. Most recently, Laurie has been appointed VP, Global Training and Development, International Data Group and Head, Global Talent Engagement, IDG Communications.

In this role, Laurie is responsible for overseeing the IDG, Inc. Training and Development work and the global training initiatives offered to the company, including Together Thursdays. She also leads worldwide Diversity and Inclusion work, spearheads the Talent Engagement Program at IDG Communications, manages IDG, Inc. company-wide initiatives such as the launch and ongoing strategy of the company intranet, Employee Engagement Survey, Return to Office, Global Branding etc. Laurie also leads internal communication efforts to ensure engagement and connection across the global teams.

She shares twin boys (Max and Miles) and a black lab (Bennett) with her husband, Jared, who are the delight of their lives.

Andrea D’Amato brings 25 years of sales and strategy expertise to her current role as CRO, U.S. In leading the IDG Communications’ U.S. sales organization, her team works with some of the largest and most strategic accounts and agencies, delivering world class programs to U.S. marketers to engage leading technology and business decision-makers. Andrea’s deep understanding of technology marketing needs began during her time at IDG’s Network World Events where she rose to Publisher in 2009. After joining IDG Global Solutions in 2013, Andrea had the privilege of representing IDG’s international offerings to U.S., Canadian and LATAM marketers. After heading the U.S. Corporate Accounts team in 2017, Andrea then led the newly formed Field team and was promoted to CRO, U.S. in March 2021.

An executive leader with more than two decades experience leading successful editorial teams, Matt Egan is IDG Communications’ first ever Global Editorial Director.

Matt leads and supports IDG’s world class teams of journalists in key markets across the globe, as they create expert content in multiple major world languages. He is responsible for audience development, data, content, ecommerce, analytics, video, and content strategy for the world’s most popular business-to-business and B2C technology publications and events.

Prior to his global role Matt managed IDG’s award-winning enterprise and B2C editorial teams in the US, UK, ASEAN, France and Spain.

Matt holds a BA in English and Drama from the University of Hull. He’s married with two children and enjoys running.

Kit Gould was appointed President of IDG Communications – Consumer Division in July 2020. The consumer division includes IDG’s Global B2C brands for PC and Mac audiences as well as those for wider consumer technology interests.

In his previous role at IDG, Kit was President of M&A, and prior to that, CEO of IDG Sweden and IDG UK where he launched and developed the B2B business into a market leading position and transformed the Consumer business into IDG’s most profitable unit.

Before re-joining IDG, Kit established and ran IDG Ventures, a UK based early-stage venture capital fund and previously held senior leadership positions at VNU Business Media (now Incisive Media) and Blenheim Exhibitions (now UN&M).  He is a strong analytical leader with an ability to both affect successful turnarounds and grow existing businesses to greater commercial success.

Kit is a past recipient of the IDG’s highest award ― The McGovern Award for Management Excellence ― and has won many highly prized industry awards, including the PPA Publisher of the Year.

Kit attended Liverpool University and holds an Honours degree in Economics. He is an enthusiastic cook and a keen, but slow, cyclist.

In his role as Senior Vice President, Consumer Worldwide, Simon Jary oversees the consumer brands for IDG, including PCWorld, Macworld, TechHive, Tech Advisor, and TechConnect – liaising with all departments including Finance, Editorial, Sales, Marketing, Audience, Technology, and Ad Ops. IDG B2C brands inspire people in a digital world through compelling, independent, quality content – helping people to choose and use the best technology for their work, home and play. Starting as Editor of Macworld in 1995, he moved through roles including Editorial Director and Publishing Director at IDG UK, and later Publishing Director and General Manager CSMB for IDG US and UK. In 2017 he has awarded the Patrick McGovern Award for Entrepreneur of the Year. Additionally, Jary chairs the global Consumer, Ecommerce and Third Party Board for the company – promoting best practice, innovation and opportunities between global business units.

Bringing more than 25 years of experience in the marketing services industry, Charles Lee was appointed as President, U.S. IDG Communications in December 2017. In his role, Charles oversees all domestic aspects of IDG Communications and manages the U.S. leadership team, building an environment that fosters quality customer experience. Charles joined IDG in 2005 as the Vice President of Corporate Sales. Through his time at IDG, Charles has received numerous awards which include the IDG Corporate Star Award, two IDG President’s Awards, Folio40 and B2B Top Innovator of Business Publishing. Prior to being named President, U.S. in 2017, Charles served as the Senior Vice President and General Manager of IDG Strategic Marketing Services.

Charles started his technology media career at Ziff Davis Media where was Vice President for 10 years. During that time, he created the company’s first Integrated Media Group, ran the Custom Media Group and was a key member of the launch teams for the Baseline and CIO Insights executive magazines.

Charles is a graduate of the University of Vermont.

With 23 years media experience, and a track record of success in sales and publishing roles, Jim McGinty is a proven leader, and technology specialist.

Jim’s journey to IDG encompassed leadership roles at VNU Business Publications and Incisive Media, as group publishing director.

Jim joined IDG in 2014. He has worked in international sales as well as IDG’s strategic marketing services group. He launched The IDG Content Marketing Practice, creating high quality custom content for our global technology customers and then ran IDG UK’s marketing services business, tasked with creating powerful interactions between our audience and commercial customers. Jim took over as managing director of IDG UK in April 2019, overseeing our market leading B2B and Consumer brands.

In addition to his UK responsibilities, Jim chairs IDG’s international marketing services board.

Neil Michael has recently been appointed IDG’s International Chief Revenue Officer. In this role Neil is responsible for all IDG’s revenues outside the U.S.

Neil has been in international technology media for over 20 years and with IDG for the last 15 years during which he has held a series of senior sales and leadership positions including President, IDG Global Solutions, where he managed IDG’s global sales teams across US, EMEA & APAC.

Neil’s deep understanding of both international markets and technology marketing customer needs has been developed through years of working with IDG’s customers around the world.

Neil is a customer obsessed executive who is focused on ensuring IDG help and partner with technology marketers all around the world to deliver on their marketing objectives.

Neil is a Tottenham Hotspurs fan who lives just outside London in Buckinghamshire, England with his wife and two sons.

As the managing director of SDS, John Moran is one of the most experienced business leaders in the industry. His heritage includes 4 years at the helm of customer roles at HP, 13 years in telecoms with Vodafone and eir (previously Telecom Eireann) and 5 years in technology leadership roles in financial services, all of which led to his career in media. Since 2011, John has founded and led the contact centre operations of IDG and now leads SDS.

As a customer-centric business leader, John develops successful sales operations with solid technology and people infrastructure.  Nine years with IDG have taught John the value of high quality lead generation and sales development. As MD, John ensures that every SDS campaign is supported with premium resource and knowledge.

Katherine Park is the Country Manager of IDG Korea. She joined IDG in February 2008, and was appointed Country Manager of IDG Korea in April 2011. Through her leadership, IDG Korea established 2 media brands, IT World and CIO Korea, as well as the data platform Techlibrary, successfully.

Prior to joining IDG, Katherine was the country manager at Marcusevans Korea, and worked in Hyundai Development Company. From her past roles, Katherine built her experience in events production, Sales and Marketing and Finance.

Katherine holds MBA from University of Surry in the UK, and BA in English Literature from Sungshin Womens University. She is a charter member of Korean folk painting.

Manuel Pastor Rodríguez is Managing Director of IDG Spain and has 25 years experience in the technology media sector.

During his career at IDG Manuel has been editor at Computerworld editorial team and later IDG Spain’s Digital Director.

Manuel is the 2017 recipient of the company’s highest recognition; the McGovern Award for Management Excellence and is also former finalist of the Accenture’s national IT media and Economy Award.

Manuel attended Complutense University in Madrid and has a BA in Journalism and Media. He is enthusiastic about swimming and cycling.

Danny Phillips has been active as a senior industry event professional for 30 years in the USA and internationally and prior to joining IDG/IDC led the US IDG Event Team in a Consulting capacity.

He has served as CEO of Argyle Executive Forum in New York, overseeing its expansion and the acquisition of two businesses, and has run his own media M&A consultancy, Present Sky LLC, where he has represented both buy-side and sell-side clients in transactions in the B2C and B2B expo, peer-to-peer networking, training and conference sectors. More recently he has also served as Managing Director at Oaklins DeSilva+Phillips in New York where he led the events practice.

Previously, Danny was Executive Vice President of Advanstar/UBM/Informa where he was responsible for technology, automotive, licensing, entertainment and healthcare media divisions in the USA, France, Brazil, Germany, the UK and Hong Kong and led 11 acquisitions. Prior to that, he headed European technology media business units for both International Thomson and EMAP/Ascential from London.

In his new role with IDC and IDG, Danny will be leading the IDX Engage Operating Board and will report to Ram and Crawford Del Prete. As Senior Vice President of IDG and IDC’s event development initiative, Danny will be responsible for reimagining our combined event strategy; building execution consistency; ensuring our events meet the needs of regional BU customers; and overall event growth.

Danny lives in Laguna Beach, CA.

Izabela Sakowicz is Managing Director of IDG Poland. Iza joined the company in January 2012 and before being appointed as MD in December 2018, she held CMO role and was responsible for the Strategic Marketing Services department. During her career, Iza has worked as a consultant for tech companies in Poland, Czech, France, Denmark and Sweden. This experience has enabled her to develop a detailed understanding of the customer’s needs. Iza is a strong professional who is passionate about innovative technologies and business.

Iza is based in Warsaw but is originally from Masurian Lake District. She earned a master’s degree in Environmental Protection and Biotechnology from Warsaw University of Technology and a postgraduate Marketing and Marketing Strategies from Warsaw School of Economics. She has also completed the Executive MBA program and Leadership Academy from French Institute, Warsaw.

Privately, she is the mom of two children, a sports fanatic, food enthusiast and cultural explorer.

Barbara Simon is managing director at IDG Communications Australia and New Zealand.

With 20+ years experience in the ICT media sector, Barbara has a breadth of strategic and operational experience and has led a diverse range of media, marketing services, demand generation and event products and teams across ANZ. In the capacity of General Manager of the ANZ CIO Executive Council, Barbara has used her passion to advocate for the advancement of the CIO profession as well as diversity in IT.

As a member of the IDG Australia leadership team for 10+ years, Barbara’s leadership & commercial ability has seen growth and recognition of the IDG ANZ & ASEAN portfolio as industry leaders and relied upon resources.

Prior to her role at IDG, Barbara was a director and board member of PayTECH and PayTECH PC, a payroll bureau and software solutions group.

Sarah has more than 20 years of experience in building high performing teams, customer relationship management, business operations and leading with a data-driven customer-obsessed mindset.

Sarah has held a number of local and international leadership positions within IDG. By partnering closely with executive and operational leaders, managers and teams, Sarah is uniquely positioned to optimize the customer experience through the IDG ecosystem.

Sarah lives in Tampa, Florida with her husband, son and daughter. She loves to run, read and surf whenever she finds the time.

As CMO, Brian Stoller, brings more than 25 years of marketing and martech experience to IDG Communications, Inc.

In this role Brian will lead IDG’s global data-driven marketing efforts as IDG continues to define the intersection of media and martech. Brian brings his global marketing, agency and martech expertise, as well as a unique understanding of what IDG’s customers need for success, because he previously was one.

Prior to joining IDG Brian was Chief Marketing Officer of several start-up companies, including BioSymetrics, a SaaS platform pharmaceutical research using AI as well as several marketing technology companies.   At IBM, Brian was Executive Director of Performance Marketing where he built IBM’s in-house programmatic capabilities. He started his career in the agency space, supporting a wide range of clients from American Express, SAP, Cisco, LG Electronics, HSBC, GSK, and CHANEL among others.

Brian is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and is based out of New York, NY.

Amanda Talboys is IDG Communications’ first Chief of Staff, working at strategic, operational and tactical levels to assist IDG’s teams deliver on companywide initiatives. In this role, Amanda will collaborate with senior leaders to help achieve corporate objectives in a way that is aligned with our corporate strategy, mission and culture. She also will provide strategic counsel as well as facilitate decision-making through a process-oriented approach.

Amanda joined IDG in 2019 on the M&A team, seeking and evaluating businesses of interest for the company to acquire or partner with.  She subsequently moved into the broader role of Corporate Development Director to include the development of new and existing products and brands, and improving business processes.

Prior to joining IDG, Amanda spent 14 years at Haymarket Media Group where she undertook various roles in strategy, insight, planning and research.  Most recently, she was UK Strategy and Planning Director, responsible for delivering fact-based development plans for Haymarket’s diverse B2B media portfolio.  Having managed Market research, Business Intelligence, Digital Analytics and Insight functions, she has a broad understanding of the media landscape as it continues to evolve, seeking opportunities for commercial growth through an understanding of customer needs, the market landscape and corporate goals.

With an honors degree in Environmental Sciences and a continuing interest in conservation and sustainability, Amanda’s media career started at Environmental Data Services – a high-value environmental business journal.

Amanda lives in Surrey, England with her husband and two children.

Jason Tenenbown leads client strategy and creative services at IDG Communications. The client strategy team designs & builds brand to demand marketing campaigns and new digital solutions for our largest customers. The creative services team oversees design and user experience for our customers and the company itself.

A marketer with experience that spans creative, product development, and revenue generation, he has collaborated with leaders across the company to define our corporate, go to market, data, and M&A strategies. He has also led development of new global product lines in Account-based Marketing, Native Advertising, and the IDG Content Marketing Practice.

Prior to joining IDG, Jason produced and marketed interactive games, toys and independent films. He has an MFA from the UCLA school of Theater, Film and Television and BA in English from the University of Texas. He lives outside of San Francisco with his wife and two children.

Jonas Triebel is Managing Director of IDG Germany and has 18 years experience in the ICT Media sector. Since joining IDG in 2002 in his first job as a trainee, he has held a series of senior positions such as Head of Database Operations, Publishing Director, Chief Product Officer and Chief Operating Officer for IDG Germany.

As the founder of Triblio (IDG’s ABM Platform), he has numerous years of experience with an outstanding record of growing successful software companies. Previously, he was the SVP Product Development for Eloqua, responsible for product development and operations. At Eloqua, he was part of the executive team responsible for leading Eloqua to an IPO and a $957M acquisition by Oracle. Prior to Eloqua, he was CEO of NFR Security, which he successfully led to growth and exit to Checkpoint Software.

An executive leader with more than 25 years’ experience in media, marketing and technology, Matt Yorke is IDG Communications, Inc.’s first Global Chief Revenue Officer.

In this role Matt is responsible for IDG’s global revenues and continuing the evolution of IDG as the leader at the intersection of media and martech. Matt brings his customer-centric approach and keen sense of how technology trends impact tech influencers and marketers to focus on simplified trusted solutions to complex marketing challenges that deliver tangible business results.

Prior to rejoining IDG Matt was Chief Digital Officer at Northstar Travel Group, the leading b-to-b media, information services, business intelligence, event and technology solutions business serving the global travel industry. His responsibilities included strategic digital transformation, marketing services, digital product development, custom content solutions, audience development, customer data management and digital revenues.

Previously, Matt was Chief Marketing Officer at SourceMedia, responsible for marketing, marketing services, product innovation, ad operations, technology and all media/event sales. Additionally, he held marketing and new business acquisition responsibilities at the world’s largest media agency, OMD, as Managing Director for Business Development and Marketing. As a member of the Executive Management team he was a driving force of the agency’s pivot to using data and technology to deliver client results in media investments.

During his previous 15-year tenure at IDG, Matt held numerous senior positions focused on global client service and transforming the company into a modern digital first media organization, including CEO of IDG Global Solutions and CEO of IDG Enterprise.

Matt has received numerous industry awards and honors, including Folio Industry Pioneer 2017, The Folio: 40 as a C-level visionary in 2011, BtoB’s Media Business 2010 Business Publishing Executive Innovator and Min’s Social Media Superstar Award in 2009. He also received the IDG Chairman’s Award for Entrepreneur of The Year in 2011.

Matt received his Bachelor of Law Degree at Buckingham University in the UK. A native of England and an avid Arsenal FC fan, Matt lives in Newton, MA, with his wife and three children.
